hotel front view
Hotel Plantage is located in the heart of Amsterdam, in its old monumental centre. This part of Amsterdam, De Plantage, was originally designed as a garden in the 17th century. These days the area features the city's zoo Artis, De Hortus, a botanical garden, and Waterlooplein's fleamarket.
From the hotel the whole of Amsterdam is easily reachable by tram or on foot. With central station, Dam square, Rembrandts Plein all reachable on foot within 5 to 20 minutes, the hotel is an ideal starting point for your explorations of Amsterdam.
The hotel features guestrooms and small appartments that can accommodate up to 6 people. Guests are given a front door key which enables them to come and go as they please.

when we arrived, the staff was very friendly and promised to store our luggage after we checkout for us to waiting for the train. when we check out, another staff was very rude and did not keep their promise, we feel very sad and had to carry the heavy luggage to visit the city.

It's a one or two stars hotel. We stayed in a quad room only 1 night. It was ok. Simple with bathroom and tv. Clean enough. There isn't a lift and the stairs are very narrow and steep! Nobody help us with our luggage and the reception desk is in the first floor. Climb those stairs was like climb The Everest! Another tip: there isn't a public space. There is only one computer in the reception area.

Basic 2 star hotel. No breakfast available. Basic room. Third floor, no lift. But in good area, walking distance from everything. We got what we paid for. Stayed 4 days (3 nights) Will be better when trams are back on normal routes after roadworks.

Top marks for location (Directly on the tram line), room size (immense), and 24-hour direct (not wireless) Internet access. Staff were very helpful and personable. Down sides: Ambiance: None. You push a button at the front door to request access, then climb a steep flight of stairs (more like a ladder) and go through a closed hallway door to enter th lobby, which is more like a large walk-in closet. Shower dribbled, rather than sprayed, and temperature was tepid. Towels were questionable, and double bed was just two cots pushed together. But it was a fun place to stay, and I'd stay there again for the great location, friendly staff, and 24-hour internet access.

It's a comfortable accomodation, provided you're not searching for luxury. Not very clean, but staff was very nice and welcoming.

There was NO welcoming, since the reception was closed at our arrival (10 a.m.. We had to return in the afternoon to be registrated - and to pay in advance. The comfort of the room was poor, heating was turned off during the night (even if it was freezing outside). We left after one night, though we had a reservation for two, and paid the total.

Recomendable.

We were a little disappointed about the support or help of some of the employees, not all. The room was not a clean as we would expect, the bed was not done during our stance. The entrance to the hotel is very narrow and not attractive. On the positive side, the employee who received us was very kind and helpful.

The hotel is a good choice if the intention is to be all the day out visiting the city. The situation is excellent but the hotel is normal. Just for sleeping.

The Plantage was a mediocre room, not bad for the bare necessities, especially if you prefer to have a private room rather than share a hostel dorm in Amsterdam for a few extra euros. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the center though, which is something to keep in mind, though the city has a good tram system.

The receptionist was clueless. I think he was high on weed? He price quoted on venere is only valid if you pay by cash. There's an extra 3% charge if you're paying by credit card. They didn't change the towels or clean the rooms and the rooms were EXTREMELY loud. You can hear conversations from other rooms very clearly! The beds were flea-infested.. I got bitten in 5 spots!!! Oh, and there's no elevator, stairs were very narrow and steep and staff did not help carry luggage. Highly NOT recommended for 75euros! (even tho they charged us 78euros per night) and i cant believe the toilet had no fan, it only was equipped with an air freshner (health hazard for those sensitive to smell like one of us were)

The entrance was unimpressive and the stairs were steep, but I found the room to be clean and comfortable. My room was better than those other budget Amsterdam rooms I have booked.

L'accueil est trés agréable.Trés bonne situation..Hélas, nous n'avons pas été prévenus d'un changement de chambre pour notre dernière nuit( dont la chambre était beaucoup moins agréable!!).

Tramway is doing a lot of noise in this street. Our double room was a double single bed room, that's not what we werer supposed to have. The welcoming is excellent, and you're told that they won't disturb you for cleaning... So, it's expensive for the service.

Was only disappointed because we were not able to check in on time because the room was not ready. We were told 1 hour and upon returning after the hour, were told an additional hour. That was a big inconvenience at the time.

We had an excellent stay in Amsterdam. Hotel Plantage is ideally located for sightseeing without being in the noisier tourist areas. The tram stops right outside the hotel. Our room was a lot larger than we expected and very comfortable. We'll be staying there next time!

You get what you pay for realistically and the welcome and knowledge was fantastic. HOwever we understood we were geetting en suite rooms and only one out of three was. The stairs are immensely steep as well. But it was warm and clean and friendly.

THIS HOTEL WAS NOTHING LIKE IT SEEMED TO BE ON THE WEBSITE.THE PHOTOS OF THE ROOMS SHOW COLOURFUL ROOMS WITH QUILT COVERS ON THE BEDS AND WE DID NOT GET ANY. I BOOKED A DOUBLE ROOM FOR ME AND MY PARTNER TO STAY IN AND I GOT TWO SINGLE BEDS PUSHED TOGETHER WITH TWO SINGLE BLANKETS(WITH NO COVERS) AND ALSO TWO BARE PILLOWS. THE ROOM WAS TO SAY THE LEAST DEPRESSING.IT ADVERTISES THE ROOM I BOOKED WITH A PRIVATE SHOWER AND TOILET.IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS NOT ACTUALLY IN YOUR ROOM.YOU HAVE TO VENTURE OUTSIDE IT TO GET TO YOUR TINY TOILET WHERE YOUR BACK IS PRESSED AGAINST THE DOOR WHILE YOU USE THE TOILET. I STAYED FOR 4 NIGHTS AND NOT ONCE DID WE GET OUR ROOM OR BATHROOMS CLEANED OR OUR TOWELS CHANGED.ANY HOTEL I HAVE STAYED IN THESE ACTS ARE COMPULSORY. ALTHOUGH THE STAFF WERE HELPFUL I STILL WOULD NOT CALL THIS A HOTEL ,MORE OF A GROTTY BEDSIT AND I CERTAINLY WONT BE BACK IN IT.I WILL COME BACK TO AMSTERDAM BUT THE NEXT TIME I WILL STAY SOMEWHERE NICER. BY THE WAY THE PHOTO OF THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOTEL IS CAMERA TRICKERY.IN THAT PHOTO THE ONLY PART THAT ACTUALLY IS THE HOTEL IS A SMALL BLACK DOOR AROUND A BIT FROM THE CORNER.I ASSUMED IT WAS THE BUILDING ON THE CORNER WITH THE AWNINGS AS HOTELS WOULD TEND TO HAVE.THIS IS A BAR/RESTARAUNT WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOTEL.

The first misleading thing is that Plantage Hotel in Amsterdam is not an hotel but few rooms in a three story building with no view to the street. There are no pictures of the place, and I doubt there will be, to have an idea in advance. The landlord will receive you in a room full of papers and charge you in advance instead of doing it at the check-out. There is a computer at the receiving room and when I asked somebody to review mi email Iit was always buzy. No breakfast is served and you have to eat in the room. I knew that in advace but an hotal should have tha minimal conditions to receive people. I never saw again the person in charge after he charge me the first day. Though he was helpfull with some tips in the city he charged me a night I could not arrive because I lost the train from Hamburg. The only good thing is a location with good transportation and walking distance from the old casquet. For the price they should have a better place.
